At EquipmentsDirect, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our platform. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, submit a listing, or contact us. This includes: name, email address, phone number, business name and address, payment information (processed securely by our payment provider), and equipment listing details. We also collect usage data automatically, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the Platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: provide and operate the Platform; process payments and manage subscriptions; send transactional emails and account notifications; improve our services and develop new features; prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service; communicate with you about products, services, and promotions (with your consent); and comply with legal obligations.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances: with dealers or buyers to facilitate a transaction you initiated; with service providers who assist us in operating the Platform (payment processors, email services, analytics providers); when required by law, court order, or governmental authority; to protect the rights, property, or safety of EquipmentsDirect or others; in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you).
4. Dealer Public Information
When you register as a dealer, your business name, location, category, and listings are made publicly visible on the Platform. Your email address and personal phone number are not shared publicly — contact is facilitated through our in-platform messaging system unless you explicitly include contact details in your listing.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Platform, remember your preferences, and analyze usage. You can control cookie settings through your browser, but disabling cookies may affect Platform functionality. We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our Platform. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption for data in transit and AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest. Payment information is processed by PCI-DSS compliant third-party processors — we do not store your full credit card number on our servers. Despite our efforts, no security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution. Listing history may be retained in anonymized form for analytics purposes.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; object to or restrict certain processing; and data portability. 9. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have information about a child, contact us immediately.
10. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, including dealer websites and financing partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
11. California Privacy Rights
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information). 12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
